Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support research activities, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Oversee day-to-day research project operations while ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and funding guidelines.
  • Prepare research materials such as study protocols, reports, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for presentations or publication.
  • Aid in grant submissions through literature reviews, preliminary data preparation, and development of research plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential research records, laboratory documentation, and project databases.
  • Collaborate with faculty, postdocs, research staff, and students; provide technical training or guidance when needed.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment while adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Participate in departmental seminars, team meetings, and research discussions.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new methodologies, procedures, or technologies aligned with project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Human Genetics or a related discipline
  • 3–4 years of postdoctoral research experience demonstrating independent project management, advanced technical expertise, and strong research productivity
  • Solid publication record, typically including first-author peer-reviewed papers
  • Intermediate-level expertise in laboratory techniques, computational/statistical analysis, or engineering-related testing
  • Experience contributing to grant-funded research
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams

Preferred

  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or supervising laboratory personnel
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations, equipment management, and safety standards

Salary Information

Salary Range: $71,000 – $75,000

This range reflects Johns Hopkins University’s good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, education, market conditions, location, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the top end of the range.
