About the role
Working in a team environment, the Research Associate ensures that internal and external analytical samples are analyzed and reported in a timely fashion and works to improve the lab’s processes and methods.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and analyze samples using standard internal methods while meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Test method and process improvements and provide a summary of results to senior team members for review and planning of future experimental path.
- Prepare all reagents necessary for instrumentation.
- Track instrument performance and provide minor maintenance as needed.
- Order necessary materials to ensure timely completion of analyses and projects; ensure purchases are coded to the appropriate project budget.
- Coordinate activities between departments (Manufacturing and QC) that are essential for development or improvement of products.
- Present experimental results at regular R&D group meetings.
- Serve as the R&D representative on project teams.
- Stay abreast of science related to analytical methods and instrumentation.
Requirements
- BS in Biochemistry or Chemistry.
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- More than 1 year of experience with HPLC preferred.
- Experience quantifying analytes in food matrices with solid phase extraction or immunoaffinity columns.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a project team, interacting with members of other departments including R&D, Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Technical Service.
- Knowledge of the food safety diagnostic industry is helpful.
