Research Associate

Duties and Responsibilities

• Make solutions and perform shared lab duties such as:Autoclaving, Cleaning, Waste removal
• Read scientific literature and participate in lab group meetings.
• Collaborate with a part-time undergraduate on a shared project.
• Design and interpret experiments studying the development and regeneration of Drosophila intestine.
• Perform molecular biology and confocal microscopy assays.
• Take careful notes, record results, and prepare figures for publication.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology.
• Prior experience in confocal microscopy.
• Prior experience in making solutions and performing standard molecular biology techniques.
• At least 1 year of experience doing full-time lab work.
• Must be able to independently plan their daily tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with Drosophila husbandry and genetic crosses.
• Interest or experience working on developmental biology.
• Familiar with intestine anatomy, development, and regeneration.
