Research Associate
Regular, full-time position (35 hours per week) based in New York City.
About the role
The School of Nursing seeks five full-time Research Associates for a study (pending NIH funding) testing a sleep intervention with adolescents in NYC high schools. Most duties occur in-person at the office or at high schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, requiring travel between sites. Occasional night and weekend work is required to follow up with study participants and complete interviews.
Responsibilities
- Screen and recruit adolescents and their caregivers
- Deliver intervention group sessions with adolescents
- Conduct in-person, phone, or Zoom interviews with students and their caregivers
- Perform literature searches
- Photocopy study materials
- Enter data
- Assist on manuscripts, presentations, and posters as opportunities arise
- Perform other tasks as needed
This is a grant-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon the grant. Anticipated start date is June.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience
- Experience working with children or adolescents
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to present information to groups of adolescents (e.g., classroom presentations)
- Ability to travel between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx (may expand to other boroughs)
- Ability to work during the high school day (typically 8 AM – 3 PM)
- Ability to work some nights and weekends to follow up with adolescents and/or interview parents
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, or related field
- Ability to make a 2-year commitment
- Prior research experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Pay
Salary range: $66,300. The salary of the finalist selected will be set based on departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
