About the role
Biognosys has established a laboratory in Newton, MA to offer next-generation proteomics services to the local and global community. These services enable unbiased exploration of the proteome across various sample types and applications, from early drug discovery to clinical trials. We are seeking a motivated Research Associate to join our operations team in Newton. This laboratory-based position focuses on customer sample preparation and HPLC-MS/MS data acquisition, performed in compliance with Biognosys’ quality standards. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of scientists to make next-generation proteomics technology actionable for the pharma and biotechnology industry.
Responsibilities
- Oversee customer samples throughout their life cycle: sample receipt, storage, tracking, manual and semi-automated sample preparation, liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) data acquisition, and quality control of generated data following Biognosys’ standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Maintain and troubleshoot LC-MS instrumentation (timsTOF, EVOQ, Evosep, Elute).
- Manage, maintain, and evaluate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Document all activities in lab notebooks and electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).
- Contribute to the improvement of sample preparation methods, SOPs, customer reports, and method writing.
- Perform general laboratory tasks such as ordering consumables and preparing buffers.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc degree in a relevant scientific field, preferably in an analytical direction (e.g., pharmacy, analytical or biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology).
- 1-3 years of experience in proteomic and metabolic/lipidomic sample preparation.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience handling biological samples such as cell lysates or patient samples, from academia, healthcare, or biotech/pharma.
- Previous experience with chromatographic (LC or GC) systems or mass spectrometers (e.g., Q-TOF, triple Quad, Orbitrap) is an advantage.
- Experience working in a GCLP-regulated environment is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Well-organized, independent, and reliable, with a collaborative team spirit.
- Excellent documentation skills and an understanding of the importance of timely record-keeping.
Pay
The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $62,500.00 to $100,000.00. The base salary will depend on factors such as education, training, experience, geographic location, skills, competencies, and travel requirements. Full-time employees may also be eligible for performance-related incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
