Research Associate

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimen shipments
• Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
• Conduct testing under supervision of a senior staff
• Perform routine technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Contribute to molecular biology and genomics workflow development and improvements
• Maintain accuracy and consistency in recording experiment methods, materials, and results
• Keep a high-quality laboratory notebook
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functionality
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe lab environment
• Absorb and adjust to time-sensitive project milestones as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a life science or equivalent
• One year of experience working in a lab setting
• Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and protocol
• Skilled in working with basic laboratory equipment
• Strong understanding of standard molecular biology techniques (such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation)
• Proficiency with basic computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, and document preparation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a research laboratory setting
• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies
