Responsibilities
- Receive and process specimen shipments
- Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
- Conduct testing under supervision of a senior staff
- Perform routine technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Contribute to molecular biology and genomics workflow development and improvements
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in recording experiment methods, materials, and results
- Keep a high-quality laboratory notebook
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functionality
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe lab environment
- Absorb and adjust to time-sensitive project milestones as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a life science or equivalent
- One year of experience working in a lab setting
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and protocol
- Skilled in working with basic laboratory equipment
- Strong understanding of standard molecular biology techniques (such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation)
- Proficiency with basic computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, and document preparation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a research laboratory setting
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies
