About the role

The Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry will support the development, validation, and application of analytical assays within the Scientific Core Laboratories at Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI).

Responsibilities

  • Supports development, validation, and application of analytical chemistry methods for sample analysis.
  • Works in multi-disciplinary scientific teams to develop, validate, and apply analytical chemistry methods for sample analysis.
  • Processes and analyzes samples using Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical engineering, or similar discipline, with at least two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Experience in GC, GC-MS, HPLC, UPLC, and analytical assay development, validation, and sample analysis.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice Guidelines (FDA, OECD, EPA).
  • Preference given to individuals with experience in a regulated setting (FDA, GCP, CLIA, etc.), OpenLab software, Waters Empower software, and/or established training in management techniques like Six Sigma or 5S management process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).
  • Physical Requirements: Wet laboratory environment, operates standard laboratory equipment, stands, walks, sits, performs lab- and desk-based computer tasks, performs laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, performs repetitive motions, occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds, wears personal protective equipment including a respirator, works in close proximity to research animals, and may work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present.

Benefits

This position may involve work inside the ABSL3 facility which may require vaccinations/immunizations. A post-offer physical and background check are required.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday.
