About the role
The Research Associate will support both the AI-driven and Structure-Based Drug Discovery Core and the Principal Investigator’s research program at The University of Toledo. This position integrates structural biology, biophysics, and molecular/cell biology to advance drug discovery efforts.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to experimental design, data generation and analysis, and core facility operations
- Support collaborative and independently funded research projects
- Maintain PCR thermal-cyclers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, laminar flow hoods for PCR work, pipettes, freezers, storage conditions for samples and reagents, and proper standard operating procedures for molecular biology laboratory
- Assist with writing drafts of research manuscripts
- Communicate effectively in English both written and verbally with co-workers
- Write in clear scientifically acceptable language
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or above in Structure Biology, biochemistry, or related area is required
- Experience in the maintenance and husbandry of transgenic mice and/or rats and in non-survival mouse and rat surgery for the isolation and culture of primary cell cultures
- Advanced computer skills with knowledge of data analysis and graphic programs
- Ability to work independently
Qualifications
- Background knowledge in molecular and cell biology is strongly preferred
- One year’s experience in research laboratory environment preferred
