About the Role

The Research Associate I assumes responsibility for performing basic biological research within the Pilon-Thomas laboratory. The Research Associate provides technical and analytical support for various research projects in the lab. Research Associates work under the general supervision of Dr. Pilon-Thomas and will work as part of a team under the direct supervision of more senior lab personnel. Research Associates participate in the planning, development, and implementation of original experimental procedures within the overall scope of the project.

Position Highlights

• Responsible for data analysis using innovative procedures and protocols with supervision.
• Perform data analysis, participate in meetings with PI and other team members to evaluate and interpret the validity of data and evaluate laboratory procedures.
• Prepare progress reports, write protocols, create presentations, and assist in the publication of research whether at scientific meetings or in the form of manuscripts.

The ideal candidate should serve as a resource to other lab members, have the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate assignments, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently, be technically proficient and accurate, effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations, initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures, and possess attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on research experience, maintain laboratory equipment in clean working order, including performing instrument standardization documented by written report.
• Reorder and restock laboratory supplies as needed.
• Prepare tissues and samples for study under appropriate supervision.
• Keep current with lab trends and techniques.
• Follow infection control techniques for preparation, handling, and disposal of samples.
• Collect, annotate, and permanently record raw experiment data and document findings in a timely manner accessible to others on the research team.
• Work in a manner compliant with applicable regulations including the protection of patient records; apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; maintain supply inventory; prepare reagents according to laboratory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field required.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

Salary Range: $18.64 - $28.53 per hour. Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
