About the Role
The research assistant carries out experiments as part of a team of bio-medical researchers to investigate the molecular mechanisms mediating diseases. They will also record and analyze experimental results and collaborate effectively with other team members.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a lab database of technical and animal protocols, plasmids, antibodies and other key resources
- Keeps accurate records of reagents
- Troubleshoots experimental design malfunctions and implements solutions; interfaces directly with equipment manufacturers for adjustments and repairs
- Instructs research personnel on specialized techniques and complex protocols; coordinates and participates in intra-collegial presentations and meetings
- Trains and mentors research personnel
- Analyzes results of experiments independently
- Develops scientific hypotheses related to ongoing work in the laboratory
- Designs experiments to test hypotheses
Requirements
- Minimum four (4) years experience in bench research required
- Master's Degree
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in immunology
- Hands-on experience with flow cytometry, including data analysis and interpretation
