About the role

Fort Valley State University (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor of Agribusiness/Agricultural Economics. Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

Responsibilities

  • Write grant proposals and work diligently to obtain external funding.
  • Manage research projects independently, including designing questionnaires, organizing surveys, conducting data analysis, and organizing workshops and seminars.
  • Apply economic, econometric, and statistical principles and concepts to conduct high-quality research and analysis.
  • Present research results at various conferences and make publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Supervise research professionals and research assistants in the research group.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different science disciplines in and out of campus.
  • Provide leadership in agribusiness research issues by working with limited resource farmers in Georgia.
  • Perform other duties necessary for the successful performance of this position.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in agribusiness/agricultural economics or economics.
  • Research experience related to agribusiness or agricultural economics in the United States with publications in refereed journals.
  • Demonstrated success in communicating research to a wide array of audiences.
  • Demonstrated record of writing extramural funding that supports and results in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues and students.
