About the role

The Mout Lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a motivated Research Assistant II/III to contribute to our immunobiology research program. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Mout and collaborate with a dynamic team to advance our understanding of immune responses in health and disease.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory experiments, including cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting, PCR, and other molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Assist in the design and execution of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and media for laboratory use.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Assist in the preparation of research presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
  • Participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and scientific seminars.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Train and mentor junior lab members or students as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field (required for Research Assistant II).
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (preferred for Research Assistant III).
  • Prior laboratory experience, particularly in immunology, cell biology, or molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting, PCR, and other molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Excel).
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and biohazard handling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot experimental procedures and adapt to new techniques.
