About the role

This position is for a Research Assistant I to provide responsible assistance for establishment and propagation of organoid cultures as part of the Baylor College of Medicine 3D Organoid Core. The role is suitable for someone who can handle multiple projects and follow instructions with minimal supervision. The position will offer a unique and rewarding translational research experience in a dynamic and highly productive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of staff members.
  • Generate and propagate 3D organoid cultures.
  • Perform routine research assays such as flow cytometry and qRT-PCR to validate cultures.
  • Document results.
  • Contribute to Core maintenance, including ordering supplies, general clean-up, freezer cataloging, and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Technical experience in sterile maintenance and culturing of cells, flow cytometry, microscopy, and RT-qPCR.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Work experience in an academic research lab.
  • Tissue culture expertise and experience with sterile technique.
