About the role

A full-time Research Assistant I position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Jon Houck at The Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Research Assistant I will work as part of a team on several federally-funded clinical research studies, including studies of non-invasive brain stimulation for the treatment of substance use disorder and studies designed to evaluate the behavioral and physiological effects of nicotine and tobacco use in human research participants, as well as other studies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, screening, and scheduling research participants
  • Generating and distributing recruitment materials
  • Data entry
  • Administering informed consent procedures
  • Administering research questionnaires and structured assessment batteries
  • Collecting and processing biospecimens
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, or pursuing a degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience and interest in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and/or neuroimaging preferred.
  • Current experience in neuroimaging and MEG data collection preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
  • Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, or pursuing a degree in a related field are preferred.
  • Those with experience and interest in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and/or neuroimaging are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Individuals with current experience in neuroimaging and MEG data collection are preferred.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • At least one year of direct work experience in-person clinical research preferred.
  • At least one year of prior experience in any paid job, military service, internship, apprenticeship, or structured volunteer role preferred.
  • Experience collecting data using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of clinical research preferred.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a dry laboratory environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May interact with research participants.

Benefits

The position's work schedule is determined by research participant availability and will involve occasional evening or weekend participant appointments, with core working hours of 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
