About the Role
We are hiring for a Research Assistant 2 in the Department of Oncology/Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center. This role involves providing day-to-day assistance in the laboratory, including ordering reagents, maintaining inventories, autoclaving, and ensuring compliance with lab safety standards and routine inspections. The position requires proficiency in laboratory techniques such as Western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, and tissue culture. As this is an immunology/immunotherapy lab, the role involves extensive work with mice, including tumor implantation, injections, tissue collection, and processing. Experience with mice is desired, or the candidate must be willing to undergo training.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day laboratory operations, including ordering reagents and maintaining inventories.
- Perform routine lab safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct laboratory techniques such as Western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, and tissue culture.
- Handle mice for tumor implantation, injections, tissue collection, and processing.
- Collaborate with lab members and report to Dr. Khleif and Dr. Gupta.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of cancer biology and research techniques in the field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; 0-2 years of experience.
- Experience or willingness to work with mice.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- M.S. in Cell Biology, Immunology, or Cancer Biology.
- B.S. in Biological Sciences with 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Pay
The projected hourly pay range for this position is $18.40 - $27.09. Compensation is determined by individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, University business needs, and external factors.
