We need to remove boilerplate: cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. Also remove "Public Service Loan Forgiveness", "Residency Requirement", "Additional Information" (EEO). Also remove "CITY RESEARCH SCIENTIST - 21744" maybe as minor metadata.
We need to keep substantive info: description of role, responsibilities, qualifications, preferred skills, pay range.
We need sections: About the role (maybe a brief description), Responsibilities, Requirements (maybe minimum qualifications), Qualifications (maybe assignment level?), Skills (preferred skills), Pay (salary range), Schedule (none given, so omit). Benefits? Not given, so omit.
We must not create sections with filler. So include only sections with real content.
Let's extract:
About the role: The Chief Strategy Office is seeking a Research Analyst for its Office of Inclusive Planning (OIP). The Inclusive Planning team, under the Assistant Commissioner for Accessibility & Equity, is dedicated to advancing transportation equity throughout NYC DOT’s programs and operations. OIP works to improve access to transportation for communities that experience barriers, including people with disabilities, older adults, low-income New Yorkers, and people with limited English proficiency.
That's substantive.
Responsibilities: list of duties: Lead and support federally funded planning studies, including research activities, data collection, analysis, and development of project materials for the current Accessible Wayfinding for People with Disabilities study; Support planning and research initiatives to better understand the needs, experiences, and priorities of communities that have historically experienced barriers to transportation; Support the management and communications for biannual Travel Surveys examining the travel habits, perspectives, and priorities of these communities; Support the Accessible Wayfinding for People with Disabilities study, including research activities, data collection, analysis, and development of project materials; Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to address questions related to transportation equity, accessibility, and other priorities identified by program leadership; Support data collection and evaluation efforts, including developing data collection instruments and coordinating logistics for surveys, interviews, and focus groups and developing inclusive strategies for public engagement; Analyze and synthesize research findings from multiple sources and translate them into clear, accessible insights; Create data visualizations, reports, presentations, and other materials and present findings at internal and external forums, as requested.
We can combine duplicates: there are two mentions of supporting Accessible Wayfinding study; we can keep one.
Requirements: Minimum qualifications: Master's degree from accredited college/university with specialization in appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or public health. Also note: To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have: doctorate... etc. But the posting says "Minimum Qualifications For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health)". Then details. Also "However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in '2' above." Also "Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in '1' and '2' above." Also "Note Probationary Period Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year." That's maybe a requirement but could be considered as part of qualifications.
We can put Requirements as the minimum qualifications (master's degree + experience). Could also separate Qualifications (maybe assignment level?). But we can combine.
Skills: Preferred Skills list: Experience conducting or supporting qualitative and quantitative research, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and data analysis. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources. - Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience preparing reports, technical memos, presentations, or other research materials. - Ability to communicate research findings and complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Ability to work effectively in a team, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail. - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues, stakeholders, and community members. - Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and familiarity with statistical, analytical, or data visualization tools such as R, SPSS, Python, SQL, Power BI, ArcGIS and related software. - Knowledge of transportation, accessibility, equity, urban planning, public policy, or related fields is a plus.
Pay: "$74,536.00 – $90,188.00"
Schedule: not mentioned, so omit.
Benefits: not mentioned (except loan forgiveness etc which we removed). So omit.
We must not repeat job title as heading. Already not.
We must not include Job ID/requisition numbers as headings; we can drop "CITY RESEARCH SCIENTIST - 21744". Possibly include as minor metadata in a short p? The instruction: "do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short
or drop it." So we could include a short p with that info, but better to drop it as it's not essential. We'll drop. We need to output only HTML fragment, no html/body tags, no markdown. We'll structure:
About the role
...
Responsibilities
- ... ...
Requirements
- ... ...
Skills
- ... ...
Pay
$74,536.00 – $90,188.00
We need to ensure we preserve all substantive info. Let's craft each. About the role paragraph: combine first few sentences. "The Chief Strategy Office is seeking a Research Analyst for its Office of Inclusive Planning (OIP). The Inclusive Planning team, under the Assistant Commissioner for Accessibility & Equity, is dedicated to advancing transportation equity throughout NYC DOT’s programs and operations. OIP works to improve access to transportation for communities that experience barriers, including people with disabilities, older adults, low-income New Yorkers, and people with limited English proficiency." Responsibilities list items: - Lead and support federally funded planning studies, including research activities, data collection, analysis, and development of project materials for the current Accessible Wayfinding for People with Disabilities study. - Support planning and research initiatives to better understand the needs, experiences, and priorities of communities that have historically experienced barriers to transportation. - Support the management and communications for biannual Travel Surveys examining the travel habits, perspectives, and priorities of these communities. - Support the Accessible Wayfinding for People with Disabilities study, including research activities, data collection, analysis, and development of project materials. (maybe duplicate; we can combine with first? but we can keep both? Might be duplicate; better to avoid duplication. We'll keep one that covers both? Actually first is about lead and support federally
