About the role
We are seeking an experienced Rescue Technician to join our team in the Carlsbad, NM, area. This is a PRN position with day and night shifts available, including overtime and per diem opportunities for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Assist in assessing potential hazards and drafting a Confined Space Rescue Preplan and a Rescue Safety Analysis.
- Identify and communicate potential hazards to all affected parties.
- Determine hazard controls and emergency contingency plans; ensure required safety equipment and PPE is readily available and in good working order.
- Conduct general air quality monitoring and make recommendations for hazard control or personal protective equipment based on data interpretation.
- Conduct daily job briefings with customers and workers.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of job conditions and equipment resources; report observations and recommendations to supervisor to maintain worker and team safety.
- Complete daily ICS (Incident Command System) reports.
- Render first aid and CPR to the level of training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Rescue Certifications including Rescue 1 Certification (Confined Space) and Rescue 2 Certification (Rope Rescue or High Angle).
- State-licensed EMT (preferred).
- First Responder & CPR certification (minimum).
- Valid Driver’s License.
Skills
- Critical reasoning skills with the ability to apply them effectively in stressful situations.
- Strong communication (verbal, written, and listening) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the petrochemical, municipal, or industrial safety equipment industry.
- Ability to inspect, clean, and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment.
Physical Assessment
This is a safety-sensitive position. A drug screen with breath alcohol test and fit-for-duty exam will be required prior to employment.
