About the role
National consultancy to update the Management Plan for the San San Pond Sak National Wetland Park, Panama, under the BE-CLME+ Project: Promoting National Blue Economy (BE) Priorities Through Marine Spatial Planning in the Caribbean Large Marine Ecosystem Plus (GEF Project ID 10211).
Responsibilities
- Review and assess the current Management Plan for San San Pond Sak National Wetland Park.
- Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and conservation groups, to gather input and ensure alignment with national and regional Blue Economy priorities.
- Update the Management Plan to incorporate Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) principles and Blue Economy strategies.
- Develop actionable recommendations for sustainable management, conservation, and financing of the wetland park.
- Prepare a final report and present findings to CRFM and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in environmental science, natural resource management, marine biology, ecology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing or updating management plans for protected areas, particularly wetlands or coastal ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and Blue Economy frameworks.
- Experience working in Panama or the Caribbean region, with familiarity of local environmental policies and stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
