Responsibilities
- Report to work on time and ready to work in a quiet, professional manner, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide quality care as ordered by the patient's physicians.
- Initiate and evaluate respiratory protocols, including all modalities of therapy.
- Serve as a member of the patient care team to assess, develop care plans, evaluate appropriateness of respiratory care modalities, and assist with discharge planning as needed.
- Provide patient and family education related to medications and therapy modalities appropriate to assessed learning skills.
- Participate in monitoring quality of care.
- Organize workflow to maintain smooth transition between shifts.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of respiratory care services, including neat and accurate documentation, entering charges for patient billing, monitoring and ordering supplies and medications, and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain current knowledge via hospital and department communication tools.
- Identify problems and recommend ideas and solutions; demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Participate in and provide in-service training.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree (Required)
- CRT or RRT certification, must be obtained within 6 months of hire (Required)
- Kentucky Respiratory Therapist license (Required)
- One year of experience in respiratory care in a critical care setting (Desired)
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (National) (Desired)
