Entry-level position performing building cleaning, facilities, and grounds maintenance in schools and administrative buildings. Work involves repetitive tasks, sustained physical effort, and some heavy lifting (minimum 50 lbs.). Employees receive on-the-job training in cleaning methods, tool use, and equipment operation. Considered emergency personnel; must report during inclement weather and may be required to assist at other locations in emergencies. Frequent overtime or night work may be needed. Uniforms are provided and must be worn.

Responsibilities

• Clean interior of buildings using manual skills and custodial tools/equipment.
• Maintain grounds and facilities.
• Move and lift furniture and equipment, with exposure to accident hazards and disagreeable elements.
• Monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Follow emergency facility response procedures.
• Communicate with customers and follow instructions.
• Adhere to the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Requirements

• Completion of the ninth grade required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds.
• Some knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of building and grounds work.
• Ability to learn proper operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds care equipment.
• Ability to learn proper use of approved cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
• Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
• Must provide and maintain a current working telephone number.

Pay

Wage range: $20.65 to $26.16 per hour, based on years of service.

Schedule

• Full-time, 12-month position.
• Evening shift.
