Reporting Intern, HQ (Spring 2027)

About the role

POLITICO is seeking exceptional college students and recent graduates for its Spring 2027 reporting internship program. Ideal candidates are enterprising and creative journalists who want to report and write for an audience of political and policy junkies. The internship runs January‑May 2027 and is based in Arlington, VA (HQ) with a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Breaking News: Cover fast‑paced developments in real time, quickly turning around stories on Washington’s most important power players and events.
• Policy: Work as a full‑time beat reporter on one of POLITICO’s policy reporting teams covering the federal government’s role in health care, transportation, technology, education and more.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a newsroom; at least one professional news media internship or job preferred.

• Demonstrated interest in Washington, politics and policy
• Strong foundational reporting and writing skills
• Excellent news judgement
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines
• Entrepreneurial mindset

Pay

$23 per hour
