Reporter, Emissions
About the role
The world debates the future of petroleum, coal and other carbon-intensive fuels and hopes rise for a transition toward renewables. But making that transition an economic reality will require incentives, and state governments around the country increasingly turn to the emissions markets to put a value on carbon and encourage development of alternative technologies.
Responsibilities
- Write market commentary and news stories while adhering to strict deadlines
- Audit environmental markets by collecting data under strict compliance standards
- Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders
- Expand market contacts, applying the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity
- Present at industry events and lead webinar sessions
Requirements
- The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, economics, business or related field
- A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and the ability to complete all writing assignments within established deadlines
- Knowledge of energy and environmental issues; experience covering energy markets preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- The willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
