Reporter

About the role

TelevisaUnivision LA is seeking a dynamic Reporter to join their news team. The ideal candidate is a creative, resourceful storyteller with strong reporting and digital skills.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, research, and develop enterprise and breaking news stories.
• Report and produce content for digital and social media platforms with a mobile-first approach.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local officials, and other news sources.
• Collaborate closely with producers, assignment editors, and news managers.
• Represent Univision in the community and at station events as needed.
• Develop original enterprise, investigative, and community-driven stories that reflect the diversity and priorities of Southern California audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field OR equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2–5 years of experience as a television journalist, preferably in a Spanish-language newsroom.
• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
• Proven experience as reporter or MMJ.
• Strong storytelling, writing, and live reporting skills.
• Proficiency in newsroom systems (i.e., iNews).
• Vertical video instincts, quick-turn explainers, and social-native storytelling abilities.
• Ability to think beyond TV packages.
• Functional knowledge of social media platforms and digital publishing.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach, and sit for up to eight (8) hours, and ability to carry and operate field camera equipment.

Skills

• Full proficiency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
• Strong news judgment and storytelling skills.
• Experience covering live breaking news and in studio.
• Proficiency in newsroom systems (iNews).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with sources.
• Ability to produce content for digital and social media platforms.
• Ability to think creatively and develop original stories.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Benefits

• Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000.
