Repair and Development Engineer - Electrical

Description The individual will prepare design data for electrical/electromechanical aircraft parts using reverse engineering practices and coordinate with certification and material engineers along with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives. They ensure that design features are consistent with functional performance and safety requirements for the aircraft system installation and with standard manufacturing practices. Additionally, the engineer investigates in-service equipment failures to determine root cause, develops repairs to return parts to service, and designs automated test equipment (ATE) and data acquisition systems to support repair development and part qualification. This requires close communication with the engineering and sales teams to evaluate new project feasibility. Requirements Draft sketches and models of partsConduct dimensional and electrical inspection of sample partsPrepare detailed dimensional and electrical analysis reportsResearch part function, failure modes, and operating conditionsDetermine appropriate material and performance specifications based on material analyses and testingDevelop tolerance limits based on dimensional data, manufacturing capabilities, and part functionPrepare production drawings using industry standardsTroubleshoot failed in-service equipment to develop repair procedures for return to serviceDesign, build, and validate automated test equipment (ATE) for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aircraft componentsDevelop automated test scripts and data acquisition routines to support functional testing, failure analysis, and repair validationAnalyze and interpret test data collected via DAQ systems to support engineering decisions and certification packagesProvide engineering support for procurement, manufacturing, receiving, and certification of partsCreate technical documents using FAA guidelines and regulationsWork with Designated Engineering Representatives to deliver complete certification packages to the FAA Experience And Skills 5+ years of full-time relevant work experience (design, manufacturing, quality)CAD/3D modeling design experienceFamiliarity with aerospace specifications and processesExperience and/or familiarity with circuit board design and/or reverse engineering a plusExperience developing, planning, and implementing automated test equipment (ATE) and test procedures for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aircraft systemsProficient in scripting or programming for test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, VBA) a plusExperience with analog and digital interfaces, electronic analysis techniques, and laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other related test equipmentHands-on experience with data acquisition (DAQ) hardware and software such as NI/LabVIEW, MCC DAQ/DASYLab, and MATLABDemonstrated general knowledge of drafting standardsProficient with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Office applications, Adobe AcrobatSkilled in writing technical documentsExperience in reverse engineering is desiredShop time or other hands-on experience is preferredExperience with avionics, communications, lighting, and/or electrical aircraft systems is preferredUnderstanding and familiarity with FAA standards is preferredDetail oriented and highly organized Education Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Compensation Salary position commensurate with experience, bonus based on company and individual performanceWe offer medical, dental, vision, life and other insurance options; 401k with 100% match on first 4%; full time workers get paid holidays, vacation & sick/personal leave accrued on hire date.
