About the Role
Yellowstone Club’s Retail & Rental department is seeking a Rental Technician for the upcoming Winter season (November through April). This role ensures Members and guests are properly outfitted with equipment for activities on property, delivering outstanding guest service in a private residential community in Big Sky, Montana.
Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge every Member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards and solid product knowledge.
- Guarantee total guest satisfaction, displaying hospitality and professionalism at all times.
- Handle all guest transactions in a legal and ethical manner.
- Apply property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure environment.
- Report accidents or emergencies to the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
- Foster a positive working relationship with all employees to promote a collaborative environment.
- Provide accurate and timely information regarding rental shop services and charge appropriate Member accounts.
- Interface with other departments to meet Member, guest, and prospective Member requests.
- Answer inquiries via telephone, facsimile, email, and mail.
- Maintain detailed records of Member preferences and requests.
- Ensure proper selection, fitting, and selling of winter and summer sports equipment and accessories.
- Repair rental equipment and manage returns efficiently in the rental system.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere in the rental shop for Members, guests, and employees.
- Perform duties in accordance with Club policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality, and consistency standards.
- Maintain a clean, neat appearance and professional demeanor at all times.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors, managers, and directors.
- Project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club to Members and guests.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with potential for long hours due to business demands.
- Maintain cleanliness of workspaces (e.g., desks, trash removal).
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/job-related coursework.
- 1–2 years of customer service experience.
- 2+ years of experience with outdoor equipment.
- Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.
- Ability to speak and write clearly and legibly.
- Basic math calculation skills.
- Problem-solving ability and awareness of when to escalate issues to management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in the retail industry.
- Understanding of ski, snowboard, mountain bike mechanics, and components.
- Knowledge of Jonas computer system and Easy Rent software.
Work Environment
The role is primarily performed in a climate-controlled environment, but may require working outside in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, or other inclement weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to walk, use hands and arms, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Constantly required to use vision for tasks such as analyzing data, reading, and ensuring accuracy.
- Constantly required to sit for extended periods and use hands/fingers to operate a computer.
