Join Our Team: Rental Technician
Rental Technician positions are available at Quinn Rental Services through The Cat® Rental Store in Southern and Central California. Our fleet includes the latest models from Caterpillar and over 70 other manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Supports the rental fleet by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Focuses on fast, high-quality turnaround to ensure rental machines are safe, reliable, and ready for customers.
• Performs advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on Caterpillar and allied rental equipment.
• Inspects rental equipment upon return and prior to re-rental.
• Performs preventive maintenance (PM services, fluids, filters, inspections).
• Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Identifies damage or excessive wear and documents findings.
• Prepares equipment to be rent-ready in a timely manner.
• Ensures all machines meet safety and compliance standards.
• Uses Caterpillar diagnostic tools and service manuals.
• Supports field service calls and shop as needed.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Performs PM services, 90-day bits, ANSI Replacements or rebuilds parts like engines, transmissions, and hydraulics.
• Documents repairs and service reports.
• Responds to breakdowns at customer job sites.
• Swaps or repairs machines quickly to minimize downtime.
• Operates equipment and functions test machines.
• Follows all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in work area.
• Adheres to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs and service calls.
• Performs other work-related duties as directed or assigned.
• Required to work overtime if needed.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate or Associates degree from a community college or technical school.
• Two to four years mechanical experience or equivalent education and experience.
