About the role
The Rental Technician Trainee provides high-quality repair service on equipment to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, ensuring maximum value for work performed.
Responsibilities
- Gain general knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, and laptops.
- Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat-rate times and re-do metrics.
- Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
- Complete related paperwork and access databases (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
- Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components with supervision.
- Operate cranes and rigging equipment with supervision.
- Complete all assigned training in a timely and proficient manner.
- Perform and excel in a mentorship environment.
- Adhere to all company policies.
- Obtain or currently possess adequate tooling to perform duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software, and order processing systems.
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
- Certification required prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
- May require MSHA certification.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Must pass CAT Can test with a score of 80 or higher and Bennett test with a minimum score of 65.
- Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime, and on-call.
Working Conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to sit or smell.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Required travel up to 10%.
- Position is considered safety-sensitive.
