Rental Sales Rep, Temperature Control Specialist

About the role

Carolina CAT Power Systems Division is seeking a Rental Sales Rep (RSR) – Temperature Control Specialist. The role requires extensive consultative sales experience in temperature control, knowledge of application design, sizing and installation requirements, and an accurate understanding of target customers and their needs. Reporting to the General Rental Manager, the position involves direct rental sales of temperature‑control equipment (chillers, air conditioners, heaters – electric and indirect fire, dehumidifiers plus accessories) and turnkey temperature‑control/generator packages.

Responsibilities

• Interface with customer base while building strong and lasting relationships.
• Qualify customer rental potential, determine rental needs, and maintain customer lists and data.
• Prepare rental quotations, oversee order entry, and project‑manage major rental projects.
• Coordinate with the Service Department on rental startups, testing, and equipment operation.
• Maintain market awareness of competition, new technical advances, and pricing for comparable products and services.
• Manage job sites, court new customers, service customer accounts, conduct office and job‑site calls, and secure industrial accounts.
• Travel into multiple territories with occasional overnight trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Physical demands: regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk or hear; frequently required to sit; frequently lift, carry, push, pull or move up to 25 pounds; vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: may expose employee to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, vibration, wet/humid conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock; occasional loud noise.

Qualifications

• Background in the rental industry with temperature‑control equipment and/or power‑generation rental business; minimum 2+ years of experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; four‑year college degree preferred (technical or business).
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license.
