Responsibilities
- Perform incidental repairs, remove and replace repairable sub-assemblies, evaluate damage to determine reusability in rebuild, troubleshoot equipment, and/or perform high level diagnostic assessments
- Learn and understand how to use the work order system
- Complete all documents and parts orders associated with repairs in an accurate and timely manner
- Identify parts for return timely
- Work effectively with others in the shop and accept helpful technical advice from others with more work experience
- Communicate effectively with Shop Leads, Shop Coordinators and Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
- Engage in required safety practices and maintain quality housekeeping in work area
- Accomplish work to the Service Department’s quality standards, within allowed time
- Read and understand the manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manual per machine type and comply with its contents
- Inspect equipment and maintain equipment to ensure safe operation
- Understand the operation, function, specifications, capabilities and controls of any piece of rental equipment to ensure all operating controls and functions are in compliance with manufacturers’ specifications
- Inspect machines returned from rental for customer damage and notify the supervisors regarding any specific damage that was found
- Adhere to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs and service calls
- Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures with appropriate supervision
- Assist in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components
- Attend training as requested
- Assume yard duties as needed; load/unload equipment and clean returned rental equipment with pressure washer
- Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred
- Heavy equipment, engine, or mechanic repair experience
- 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
- 1+ years customer service experience
Skills
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
- Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
- Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
- Safety & Product Knowledge
- Understanding of diagrams and schematics
- Intermediate diagnostic aptitude
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Wynne, and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW
- Basic knowledge of Windows/Internet
Pay
$22.00 - $27.00 per hour. Pay is dependent on education and experience.

- Specific Risks: Works with moving, mechanical parts; may work in high places and be exposed to equipment vibration and fumes
