Renal Pathologist Opportunity in Berkeley, CA with Kaiser Permanente

About the role

The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (TPMG) is seeking two fellowship-trained Renal Pathologists to support a newly internalized renal pathology program, starting mid-2026. The positions will have sign-out responsibility for cases across the region, including light microscopy and immunofluorescence (with outsourced Electron Microscopy).

Responsibilities

• Sign-out responsibility for cases across the region, including light microscopy and immunofluorescence (with outsourced Electron Microscopy)
• Some portion of sign out in a secondary area may be necessary
• Alternatively, opportunities for a reduced schedule exist
• Seamless integration through a unified electronic health record system
• A weekly dedicated multi-disciplinary glomerular disease board
• Renal pathology education and clinicopathologic case conferences

Requirements

• Board Certification or Eligibility
• Must be eligible to obtain a CA medical license or be currently licensed to practice within CA

Qualifications

• Experience in renal pathology preferred
• Collaboration with more than 90 nephrologists caring for a diverse patient population
• Over 800 native kidney biopsies and 300 transplant biopsies annually
