About the Role
The Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and drying all china, glassware, silverware, and other equipment returned to the dish hall station. This position may also ensure that all tables are kept clean and presentable with clean china, glassware, silverware, and linen.
Responsibilities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with service standards and scheduling needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with service standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Maintain the dish washing station, organize and place items in trays for the washing machine, and operate the washing machine.
- Dry items and return them to their proper stock location.
- Wash items by hand that are not suitable for automatic washing and return them to their proper location.
- Assist fellow employees to ensure the restaurant meets guest volume and completes assigned side duties.
- Follow safety and sanitation practices and work with clean and sanitized tools.
- Perform duties requiring standing and fast movement throughout the kitchen area.
- Complete side duties such as cleaning vents, scrubbing trash cans, cleaning gum from underneath tables, detailed cleaning of chairs, cleaning ice bins, replacing light bulbs, setting up sanitizers, cleaning floor sweepers, emptying trash, and taking trash to the dumpster.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Heavy work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during the entire shift.
