About the role
The Removal & Reinstall Foreman will provide leadership and technical expertise for a solar removal and reinstallation crew. The Foreman is responsible for the safety, quality, customer experience, and productivity of each assigned solar removal and reinstallation tech.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the successful removal and reinstallation of residential solar projects including but not limited to the installation of the electrical systems that interconnect the solar array to the grid power of the customer's residential property.
- When assigned, safely lead or assist solar battery installations.
- Ensure accuracy of your own and crew's time sheets.
- Organize, lead, and train crew members to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframes.
- Check on progress of installers every hour throughout the installation to ensure the installation process;
- Follow construction job flow procedures.
- Review inventory at loading dock to ensure the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
- Layout and assemble solar modules, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment and tools in preparation of installation.
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structure, building or support mechanisms.
- Remove and assemble racking, solar modules, panels, electrical equipment, or support structures as specified in the project plan.
- Effectively manage all aspects of the construction workflow of the project to drive productivity.
- Maintain and communicate supply and equipment issues to properly address all service call needs.
- Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers; Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend solutions; Maintain consistent and appropriate interface with customer throughout construction phase.
- Maintain regular communication with field performance techs and Performance Call Center.
- Ensure work performed by all electricians is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local electrical codes.
- Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues.
- Perform project clean up including client site and installation vehicle.
- Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety.
- Perform service calls when necessary.
- 15% travel required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma is required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience including 1 year of solar installation experience.
- Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred. Depending on state requirements an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required.
- Prior experience leading teams of 2-4 preferred.
- Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC.
- Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer.
- Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check.
- Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Have CPR and First Aid Certifications up to date and keep maintained for purposes of continued employment (class costs are reimbursable by the company).
- Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge: Working knowledge of current NEC codes. Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code and how PV systems operate. Understands interconnection activities. Understands basic construction principles.
- Safety: Adheres to company safety policies and procedures including ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safely.
- 5+ years of installation experience with the latest electrical code, means, and methods.
- Superior internal and external communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).
- Team player with acknowledging contributions by others.
- Physical Demands: Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance); Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance; Ability to climb ladders; Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity; Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching; Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment; Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height; Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions; Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage; Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green; Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching; Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings; Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
