Remote Transmission Line Engineer
About the role
The Transmission Line Engineer position falls within the transmission department of Actalent. The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers to manage projects that support utility customers. Responsibilities include engineering analysis, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare project construction documents such as: plan and profile drawings; design drawings; engineering, material, and construction specifications; project schedules and bills of material
- Develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates
- Design new transmission facilities with voltages ranging from 12 kV and 765 kV
- Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects
- Conduct contractor bid and construction meetings and ensure safety and compliance
- Coordinate with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors to secure project permits
- Provide leadership to facilitate project completion, train and mentor other engineers, and set measurable work area goals and objectives
- Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete transmission projects
- Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met
- Work under supervision of higher-level engineers
Requirements
- Two to five years of experience in utilities working with Transmission Line Design
- Two to five years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish
- Two to five years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for Transmission Lines projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET)
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET) counts toward years of experience

- Education and Experience Requirements: Two to five years of experience in utilities working with Transmission Line Design, two to five years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish, two to five years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for Transmission Lines projects, Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET), Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET) counts toward years of experience
Skills
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD
- Experience with transmission line design
- Ability to coordinate with governmental and regulatory agencies

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
