Remote Plans Examiner (Ohio) - Part Time

About the role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. This part-time, remote position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments as part of a highly respected team. You’ll have access to a full complement of resources and challenging projects that keep you engaged.
Responsibilities
- Provide complete non-structural plan reviews of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Review all plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Initiate preconstruction conferences with contractors and/or developers and associated staff members.
- Provide technical direction and assistance to inspection personnel regarding field problems.
- Assess and resolve complaints from clients, applicants, the public, designers, and contractors.
- Regularly interact directly with municipal clients and their staff.
- Attend meetings, educational seminars, and functions related to building codes.
Requirements
- Ohio BBS Combination Plans Examiner Certification required.
- ICC Plans Examiner Certifications in multiple trades preferred.
- Experience in reviewing construction plans required.
- Basic knowledge of land development processes, including zoning regulations, land entitlements, and public infrastructure construction.
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
- Ability to positively interact with staff, the public, contractors, governmental agencies, and other clientele.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Ability to prepare written plan review correspondence and update information into company software programs.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Must stay familiar and up to date with different editions of the International Building Codes.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail.
