Remote Hospital Cook, Kanakanak Hospital - Multiple Vacancies Open ($22/hr & Benefits - 4x4 Rotation + Benefits + Housing - Dillingham, AK)

Multiple vacancies—join our team as a Rotational Hospital Cook in Dillingham, AK at Kanakanak Hospital. This rotational position offers a 4-weeks on, 4-weeks off schedule with 10-hour shifts. Lodging and 3 meals per day are provided. Point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities

• Performs all main line food production duties with specific items determined by assigned shift.
• Prepares food as indicated by par level sheets and in accordance with Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.
• Works independently with minimal oversight.
• Reviews daily needs with assigned supervisor(s).
• Ensures quantity and quality control in food production and sanitation of assigned area.
• Presents food attractively with appropriate garnish and correct portion size.
• Follows all food service safety protocols, including temperature and sanitation logs.
• Inspects food preparation and serving areas for quality presentation and sanitation.
• May place orders or check in freight.
• Maintains neat and clean personal appearance according to department dress code.
• Assists other food service personnel and supports performance improvement activities.
• Helps coworkers during staffing shortages.
• Performs other duties pertinent to the department’s success as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Alaska Food Handler’s Card and ServSafe certification (contingent upon 30 days of hire).
• One (1) year of work experience or documented vocational training demonstrating knowledge of food preparation, cleaning equipment, and general cleaning processes.
• Able to follow standardized written recipes.
• Proficient in using kitchen equipment: steam tables, dish machine, trash carts, knives, ovens, slicers, mixers, grill, grinder, fryer, broiler, flat tops, counter mixer, roasting ovens, and kettle.
• Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation compliant with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
• Proof of immunization for TB and other designated screenings; annual flu shot required.
• Contractor may be required to maintain employee health records on site.

Background Requirement

An individual is ineligible to work in any position with regular contact with or control over children, dependent adults, or vulnerable persons if convicted of:

• One or more felonies and/or two or more misdemeanors of Crimes Against Persons and/or Crimes of Violence.
• Any Crime against a Child, Dependent Adult, or Vulnerable person, regardless of classification.

• Murder.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous food service, cook, or hospitality industry experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Environment: Indoor, environmentally controlled industrial hospital kitchen in a healthcare setting.
• Noise level: Moderate.
• Physical requirements: Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; frequent sitting, standing, walking, use of hands/fingers, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, seeing, tasting/smelling, and carrying weight.
