Remote Directional Drilling Specialist

What You Will Do

  • Oversee day-to-day directional drilling operations on multiple rigs
  • Implement directional drilling plans and procedures according to customer plan and objectives
  • Maintain and understand operational efficiencies by monitoring rig EDR
  • Provide guidance and assistance to new teammates as needed
  • Maintain and manage the Bit Guidance System by evaluating Convergence plans, creating/configuring configurations, and reviewing notices
  • Troubleshoot and optimize sliding performance on multiple rigs
  • Communicate complex information and results in a straightforward manner to internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with the H&P’s Software and Technology Development teams to improve and develop technology solutions
  • Collaborate with the Survey Management and Collision Avoidance teams as well as other H&P Technology groups
  • Become knowledgeable in all of the different technologies H&P offers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and field personnel
  • Interface with external customers, including Drilling Engineers, Well Planners, Directional Drillers, Well Site Leaders
  • Interface with internal customers, including Sales team, Product Managers/Owners, Software Engineers, Technology Development, and Digital Operations Support team

What You Need

  • Must be fluent conversational and written Spanish
  • Bachelor’s or 2-year technical degree preferred
  • At least 5 years combined rig/directional drilling/MWD experience preferred
  • Previous remote operations experience preferred
  • Robust understanding of drilling and rig operations
  • Strong understanding of downhole tools
  • Capable of recognizing drilling dysfunction
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and customer awareness
  • Professional demeaner in an office-based setting
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to new problems and situations
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic algebra
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Self-starter and motivated
  • Proficient at time management and able to multitask
  • Can work well in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Able to deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment
