REMOTE Circuit Breaker Technical Application Engineer

We seek a Circuit Breaker Technical Application Engineer who will provide pre- or post-sales technical field engineering, product demonstration, and training support to potential and existing Doble customers.

About the role

This role provides technical expertise in Doble circuit breaker test equipment, analyzers, and software, and supports diagnostics, timing, and motion analysis of high-voltage circuit breakers. The CB TAE will support market research and product development input to the Offering Managers. CB TAE will have the opportunity to publish technical articles and participate in various technical conferences sponsored by Doble and other industry organizations. Engineers at Doble have the potential to become nationally and internationally renowned experts.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-sales, technical, and training support on the operation and application of Doble’s comprehensive suite of circuit breaker test equipment and analyzers designed for diagnostics, timing, and motion analysis of high-voltage circuit breakers to potential and existing customers.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Doble circuit breaker test equipment and analyzers, including the TDR9100, TDR900, and the CBA series (CBA 2000, CBA 3000) and their accessories.
• Support Regional Sales Managers in demonstrating Doble circuit breaker hardware and software to potential customers.
• Prepare test plans for various circuit breaker models, provide engineering support, and prepare written reports on the interpretation of data measured by Doble Circuit Breaker Instruments.
• Review submitted test data sheets and create written reports on abnormal conditions as needed for sales, technical, and training support.
• Provide training to customers on testing techniques and applications of Doble Circuit Breaker analyzer hardware and software solutions.
• Support Offering Managers in the testing of new Doble software and hardware, and in the development and revision of manuals.
• Author papers for Doble conferences and assist in providing technical expertise for research and development projects.
• Provide support to other engineers in the department or other departments within the company.
• Participate in conferences, trade shows, and other company-sponsored events, including committee meetings, general sessions, user group meetings, and meetings with clients.
• Continuously upgrade skills concerning computers, software, test theory, test equipment operation, apparatus operation, and training presentations, in accordance with ISO 9001 Standard Operating Procedures.
• Act as a "Doble representative" and advocate for Doble and Doble’s customers.
• Communicate customer needs effectively to Doble management within the Technical Application Engineering Dept, Offering Management, including product specifications, pricing, and competitive intelligence gained in the field.
• Present Doble products, services, and solutions at seminars, conferences, and trade shows to industry influencers.
• Write technical papers, application notes, and guides on topics related to Doble products and services.
• Collaborate with other departments (primarily Engineering, Client Service Engineering, and Sales) to facilitate positive working relationships with all internal and external Doble stakeholders.
• Support new product development and current product enhancement via the incorporation of customer feedback.
• Provide support in testing new product feature sets and software evaluation to improve overall product quality.
• Report existing issues via the established software bug-logging system and a more comprehensive Doble-wide system.
• Provide on-site support and services; provide remote support via email, telephone, and web-based solutions.
• Provide customer issue resolution for issues with existing products via the methods described above.
• Provide basic language support via term extraction from manuals, guides, brochures, and other product literature.
• Participate in Doble Spring Conference technical sessions, writing and/or delivering at least one paper and/or presentation during the week to conference participants.
• Complete Level 1 Technical Application Engineering training across the complete Doble product/service portfolio.
• Complete Level 2 / Level 3 Technical Application Engineering training for the core product focus area.
• Serve in a train-the-trainer role internally for other Doble employees to understand various products.
• Serve as a trainer of various Doble products to the Sales teams and Channel Partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent).
• Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) is a plus.
• PE License in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in the electrical power industry, particularly in protective relay testing.
• Fluency in English.
• Enjoy teaching and relating ideas or concepts to individuals with varied levels of experience.
• Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral forms, and develop new media communications.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Strong time management skills to work in a remote environment.
• Professional demeanor with all stakeholders, both internal and external to Doble.
• Strong balance of product and service orientation.
• Superior skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Proven project management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
• Valid passport and ability to obtain a valid Visa to any country required for Doble fieldwork.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working for a US company is helpful.
• Familiarity with Doble products is preferred.

Pay

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience. Salary Pay Range Minimum $92,674.90 - Midpoint $115,843.62.

Schedule

Domestic and international travel required (50%); this level can vary throughout the year due to customer demand.
