REMOTE Bilingual Aide/Interpreter (Spanish and English Required)
Remote-only position providing virtual therapy sessions in coordination with a Speech or Occupational Therapist. Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Schedule
- Biggest need Monday through Friday (any or all days) from 5 PM and later Central Standard Time, and weekends
- Schedule to be built with part-time caseload increasing to full-time as caseload builds (~10-20 hours to start)
Pay
$15-$17/hour depending on experience; W2 position
About the Role
This position will mostly consist of interpreting for treatment sessions and evaluations. The Interpreter/Translator requires exceptional reading and comprehension skills, excellent writing skills, and command of both English and Spanish. The role involves knowledge of interpreting techniques, cultural and linguistic differences, and the ability to translate documents such as therapeutic instructions, registration information, and consents.
Interpreting/translation can occur in a facility or an approved home care setting. All therapy sessions are conducted via Zoom in coordination with a therapist.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, high-quality interpretation services under pressure
- Access reference material needed to carry out interpretation duties
- Use specialized terminology and explain therapeutic procedures
- Translate written or spoken material between languages
- Handle therapeutic documents and terminology efficiently
- Maintain command of Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy treatment terminology
- Observe patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and Zoom platform
- Serve as administrative backup when necessary
- Carry out other projects assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
- One year of interpreting experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Flexible hours, including ability to work Saturdays and Sundays
- Strong interpersonal skills, accuracy, dependability, and a team-oriented attitude
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
- Required to stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision
