Relief Operator

About the role

The Relief Operator will assist the production department by providing operational relief to cover days off, vacations, weekends, and sick leave for each position in the department. This role works under the supervision of the immediate Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple functions on the Mill.
• Assist with inspection and maintenance of machinery.
• Back up all Mill positions and areas.
• Assist with determining the cause of system problems or malfunctions, take corrective action, and recommend remedial steps to avoid future occurrences through tracking and charting programming errors to drive root cause analysis.
• Gather data to track and chart programming errors to drive root cause analysis.
• Maintain system and program technical documentation and, when applicable, maintain end-user system/program operation manuals.
• Assist crew lead with daily operation, safety, and maintenance checklist.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Pipe Manufacturing Mill.
• Minimum of 3 years in OCTG practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and Overhead Crane operation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and ensures compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
• Ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
• Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
