Relief Associate Veterinarian- Elk Grove, CA

About the role

VCA Elk Grove Animal Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our dynamic team. The hospital is open 6 days a week (closed Sunday) with a rotating schedule that includes Saturdays and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive veterinary care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care.
• Perform surgeries and other advanced procedures as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic tests using in-house lab work, digital radiology, and ultrasound.
• Oversee patient care, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
• Collaborate with the hospital’s support staff to ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA accredited college.
• Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of California.
• Experience in small animal medicine and surgery preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Passing scores on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE).
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Effective time management and organizational abilities.
