About the role
Play a proactive role as a reliability engineer in the Research & Development Hardware Engineering group. Provide hands-on, analytical, and reliability expertise to support engineering programs associated with the development of complex life science instruments. Work in a collaborative team environment to manage reliability projects such as implementing tests, analyzing data, assessing reliability vendor information, and reporting accurate information to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage reliability programs on new R&D products.
- Prepare, setup, and execute component and system-level tests.
- Create and implement test plans to effectively mitigate risks in new product designs.
- Author and execute test plans and protocols.
- Record, organize, and manage large amounts of detailed test data.
- Methodically analyze test data and interpret results for critical reliability decision-making.
- Perform engineering and statistical analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot instrument failures and/or reliability programs issues as necessary.
- Provide engineering input for new designs to ensure reliable and robust products.
- Responsible for the successful completion of reliability deliverables into the company's Product Development Process
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
- Basic statistical knowledge.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience performing tests to collect experimental data and performing statistical analysis and interpretation of results.
- A minimum of 2 years mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience in the development of automated instruments.
- Knowledge of reliability fundamentals and basic understanding of reliability analysis (ie-life predictions, product life modeling, root cause analysis, Design-of-Experiments, environmental testing, accelerated testing, etc.).
- Experience with automated research or clinical laboratory instruments such as flow cytometers.
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics, electro-mechanical systems, and material chemical compatibility issues.
- Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment with engineers and scientists.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Familiarity with biochemistry, molecular or cell biology a plus.
- Effective engineering analytical and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge and experience with statistical concepts and analysis.
- Experience utilizing test and measurement equipment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to prepare blood samples for testing (training will be provided).
- Knowledge of basic Risk Analysis and Risk Management concepts.
