Responsibilities
- Participate in design reviews and document technical assumptions to maintain analytical progress despite design ambiguities
- Perform functional decomposition to map system requirements to specific hardware and software elements
- Execute Physics of Failure (PoF) analysis and component-level reliability predictions utilizing MIL-HDBK-217F (or similar part-stress methodologies) to assess hardware durability and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
- Conduct comprehensive reliability analyses including FMECA per MIL-STD-1629A, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) to identify failure modes and develop design mitigations
- Conduct maintainability analyses such as Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to develop efficient preventative schedules and most cost-effective maintenance posture
- Interface with logistics stakeholders to ensure R&M analytical outputs are formatted and optimized for seamless integration into the Logistics Product Data (LPD) environment per GEIA-STD-0007
- Develop and maintain R&M artifacts within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment using SysML, ensuring all Product Support Analysis (PSA) is centralized according to the established Model Governance Plan
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineering, specifically within defense, aerospace, or complex systems integration
- Hands-on analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform detailed functional decomposition and map system-level requirements to hardware/software elements
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or a related technical discipline)
- Direct experience with SysML and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, or Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
- Advanced knowledge of core R&M standards, including MIL-STD-1629A (FMECA), MIL-HDBK-217F (Reliability Prediction)
- Familiarity with Technical Data Package (TDP) validation, with the ability to interpret assembly drawings, parts lists, and engineering notes per ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.24F
- Experience identifying drawing discrepancies or design ambiguities and driving design change through formal engineering channels
- Experience in Logistics Product Data (LPD) integration, with a working knowledge of GEIA-STD-0007 and the interface between R&M artifacts and sustainment databases
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen and possess a current or active Secret Security Clearance
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Frequent communication with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
