Release Train Engineer (RTE)
About the role
This position is responsible for the end-to-end governance of the internal cloud platform release lifecycle. The role involves planning, coordination, execution, and production promotion of infrastructure and platform changes. You will manage release dependencies across engineering, operations, security, and product teams, ensuring changes are introduced safely and predictably with minimal risk to platform stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the release lifecycle for an internal cloud platform.
- Develop and maintain release standards, cadence, and readiness criteria for enterprise-scale delivery.
- Manage release calendars, coordinate change windows, and enforce readiness criteria.
- Integrate CI/CD pipeline outputs and automation workflows into controlled production releases.
- Ensure changes are introduced with minimal risk to platform stability.
- Cook up dependencies across engineering, operations, security, and product teams.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience managing release lifecycles for enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, or shared services.
- Experience operating within regulated environments where platform stability, auditability, and change controls are mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Jira, Agile/SAFe tooling, and release tracking mechanisms. A strong working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or ITIL Change Management certification.
- 5-7+ years supporting infrastructure or cloud platform releases at an enterprise scale.
- Experience releasing VMware-based platforms, internal clouds, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ability to define release standards, readiness criteria, and governance frameworks.
- Experience in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
