Release Engineer

About the role

The Software Release Management team at Zoox handles the orchestration of releases across vehicle, cloud, and client codebases. Our mission is to streamline the build-and-release lifecycle for our autonomous vehicle technology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe continuous delivery by bridging the gap between integration, quality assurance, and software engineering.
• Manage the release of simulation tools and autonomy software, involving regression analysis and vehicle-level testing coordination.
• Secure formal approvals from stakeholders to confirm that all releases are production-ready.
• Define and track readiness indicators to ensure every release meets safety and performance standards.
• Scale and refine automation systems to decrease manual effort and optimize deployment workflows.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a release/build engineer and managing releases for large, complex products.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with source control (Git), branch management, and conflict resolution.
• Experience with CI/CD, including build and deploying tools like CircleCI, Jenkins, and Bamboo.
• Programming experience, including Python or other scripting languages.
• Ability to learn custom tooling quickly.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to quickly adapt to changes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience handling large data sets.
• Bazel experiences a plus.

Pay

$140,000 - $190,000 a year
