About the role

Develops and manages relationships with business banking clients in the assigned business segment and/or geographic areas. Actively engages in the sales process to ensure the attainment of Regional and individual goals and objectives, while maintaining CNB credit quality and risk management guidelines. Presents a variety of product solutions to client needs, provides responsive quality service, and approves transactions within delegated authority. Manages overall relationship profitability and portfolio risk, and is responsible for profitable growth of the assigned portfolio through active calling efforts, referrals, and exemplary service.

Preferred to be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (SAFE Act) and registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry" (NMLS); or must be able to be registered under the SAFE Act.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and develops profitable relationships with prospects and clients through extensive business development activity.
  • Works closely with existing and new clients to understand their financial requirements and provide effective solutions while maintaining credit quality standards.
  • Develops relationships and supports other CNB departments to deliver recommended solutions to customers and prospects.
  • Occasionally assists branch managers and relationship managers on calls to advance their skills.
  • Participates in internal and external community activities as a CNB representative to promote and attract new colleagues and customers.
  • Prepares a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client or prospect in conjunction with the strategic business development program.
  • Identifies business opportunities and solicits referrals from existing customers, internal and external networks, and industry professionals.
  • Develops a strong understanding of company, industry, business, and client needs to assist in calling efforts.
  • Sets objectives for each relationship in terms of cross-sell opportunities and revenue contribution.
  • Calls on existing or prospective clients to discuss and promote all Bank products and services to establish a total client banking relationship.
  • Discusses financing opportunities and general business conditions; assists in forecasting clients’ credit needs and develops solutions.
  • Brings in product specialists as necessary to help problem-solve or structure transactions.
  • Negotiates, documents, and closes loan transactions, ensuring conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Exercises sound credit and risk judgment in approving transactions and recommends approval of credits meeting the bank’s standards.
  • Ensures the quality of all business introduced to the Bank.
  • Represents the Bank by actively participating in civic, community, business, and industry-related organizations.
  • Interfaces with other Bank departments, including branches, to define responsibilities and coordinate objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction.
  • Resolves all client needs and internal issues.
  • Monitors and analyzes relationship results and account activities; determines client profitability and makes recommendations regarding accounts to develop or eliminate.
  • Prepares reports for management.
  • Monitors portfolio for quality, risk, and adherence to policy; works with appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
  • Maintains awareness of competitive products, practices, rates, and changes in market conditions.
  • Analyzes problem credits and meets with clients to develop solutions to minimize loss exposure.
  • May serve as a product specialist acting as a technical consultant to clients and Relationship Managers.
  • Manages workflow to match client needs and monitors and mitigates operational risk factors for relationships requiring extensive operational expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of banking experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of commercial lending experience within the segment.
  • Minimum 5 years of credit experience.
  • Preferred to be in good standing under the SAFE Act and registered/licensed with NMLS; or must be able to be registered under the SAFE Act.
  • Working knowledge of Bank operations, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • General knowledge of Bank products and services.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Pay

Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
