About the Role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Relationship Banker (SAFE) to join our National Branch Network. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers across all segments, including affluent customers, for everyday banking needs, products, and services. You will help customers progress toward their financial goals through planning, digital engagement, and customized deposit, credit, and investment solutions. The role also supports everyday banking activities such as opening accounts, handling service requests, and delivering a seamless customer experience.
Relationship Bankers build credibility and loyalty by leading with curiosity and insight, turning discovery conversations into enduring customer partnerships. You will work in a collaborative branch environment, partnering with colleagues across Wealth, Home Lending, and Business Banking to meet customer needs through referrals. Success is driven by strong relationship acumen, proactive customer engagement, and seamless collaboration.
The Relationship Banker LP (license pending) role is a temporary position until the employee successfully completes licensing and SAFE requirements. Upon completion, employees transition to the Relationship Banker (SAFE) role. Unlicensed hires will participate in the Branch Network Licensed Banker program.
Responsibilities
- Proactively acquire, manage, and grow a portfolio of consumer and business customer relationships.
- Lead discovery-driven conversations to understand customer goals and deliver tailored banking and credit strategies that strengthen relationships, increase retention, and drive balanced growth across deposits, lending, and investments.
- Partner with professionals across Wealth, Home Lending, and Business Banking to deliver integrated solutions through warm introductions, clear expectations, and personal ownership to convert opportunities into closed outcomes.
- Champion digital adoption by educating customers on self-service and mobile banking options to elevate satisfaction, engagement, and service efficiency.
- Resolve account inquiries and service requests within authorized limits, documenting actions and setting follow-up plans to reinforce trust.
- Demonstrate risk excellence through accurate documentation, sound judgment, timely issue escalation, and adherence to policies and regulations.
Requirements
- 2+ years of customer service experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 1+ year of assessing and meeting customer needs or helping with issue resolution, demonstrated through work or military experience.
- 1+ year of building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and partners.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to source, acquire, and deepen relationships through proactive outreach and strong internal partnerships.
- Knowledge of book of business management practices, documentation of planning conversations, and consistent follow-up to drive retention and balanced growth.
- Experience assessing needs and recommending products and services for consumer and business customers.
- Ability to champion digital adoption by educating customers on self-service and mobile banking options.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and confidently, listen with empathy, and build credibility and trust.
- 1+ year of financial services experience in consumer, home lending, business banking, or investments.
- Successfully completed FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 examinations (or recognized equivalents) sufficient for immediate FINRA registration.
- State Insurance license(s).
Job Expectations
- Ability to work a schedule that includes most Saturdays.
- FINRA Series 6, Series 63 (or recognized equivalents), and State Insurance license(s) must be active or completed within a designated timeframe. For exams earned after Sept. 30, 2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam is also required.
- For the following states, FINRA Series 65 (or equivalent) examination will be required within a specified period: AK, AL, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, MD, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, and WY. Wyoming allows referral-only licensed bankers to receive IAR registration without Series 65/66.
- Obtaining and maintaining required FINRA licenses is necessary for continued employment. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process after an offer is accepted.
- SAFE registration is required at the time of employment; Wells Fargo will initiate the process after your start date.
- Loan Originators must meet LO/CFPB requirements and comply with Wells Fargo policies, including standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background. A credit report may be reviewed (credit score not included), and additional ongoing screening may apply.
