This advanced role blends teller and personal-banker responsibilities, with a focus on delivering comprehensive financial services, handling complex transactions, mentoring junior staff, and deepening customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional service to build lasting relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring the highest level of service is provided.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach, assisting with both routine and complex banking needs.
  • Provide guidance to customers on financial products and services that best meet their needs.
  • Actively identify and promote all bank products and services; ask targeted questions to uncover financial needs and goals.
  • Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by assessing needs and recommending suitable banking solutions.
  • Proactively refer customers to other lines of business such as mortgage, wealth, treasury, and commercial.
  • Open and manage personal and business accounts, ensuring accurate and compliant setup.
  • Assist with account maintenance tasks, including updating personal information, transfers, and check orders.
  • Support customers with online and mobile banking services, ensuring they are comfortable and knowledgeable about digital tools.
  • Process and assist with customer loan applications, including personal loans and home equity lines of credit.
  • Conduct initial loan screenings, gather documentation, and collaborate with loan officers to ensure smooth loan approval.
  • Educate customers on loan products, eligibility requirements, and loan terms.
  • Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy; balance cash drawer and ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in financial transactions and customer interactions.
  • Monitor and detect suspicious or fraudulent activity, escalating issues to management as appropriate.
  • Adhere to privacy regulations and handle customer data securely and confidentially.
  • Mentor newer staff by providing guidance on bank products, customer service skills, and operational procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment by sharing knowledge and assisting with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Assist with daily branch operational tasks, including balancing cash, managing supplies, and supporting branch opening/closing.
  • Support branch leadership in maintaining security and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • 2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities.
  • 1 year of previous training, mentorship, military, or management experience.
  • Pursuant to the SAFE Act, must maintain current NMLS registration; if not active at hire, must attain it immediately upon employment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math and accounting functions.
  • Understanding of lending principles and assessing customer financial needs.
  • Ability to accurately count money and perform duties under frequent time pressures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to explain products and services clearly to customers.

Pay

Base pay range: $20.50–$23.00 per hour. Salary is based on job duties, required qualifications, relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
