About the role

The Relationship Banker creates exceptional customer experiences by engaging clients with exceptional service while educating them on digital and mobile banking alternatives. This role introduces and sells financial services to meet clients' short and long-term needs, processes financial transactions, and assists with branch operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall branch client experience by proactively engaging existing and prospective clients to demonstrate 21st-century banking advancements, handle objections, and provide exceptional service.
  • Manage branch activity flow, assess and fulfill client needs, resolve complaints, and escalate unfulfilled concerns to appropriate departments.
  • Sell financial services by identifying customer needs, cross-selling products, opening new accounts, prospecting, and performing teleconsulting.
  • Process financial transactions, including cashing checks, accepting deposits, paying withdrawals, issuing cashier’s checks, and selling traveler’s checks.
  • Balance individual cash, open and close the vault, and perform ATM, cash recycler, and armored car duties.
  • Train new employees on operational and sales procedures.
  • Coordinate calling efforts, manage referrals, track sales, and prospect to achieve personal and team sales goals.
  • Maintain close contact with customers and prospects through appreciation calls and promotional activities, including in-store aisle relationship building.
  • Stay informed of current bank policies, procedures, federal laws, regulations, and new products or promotions.
  • Perform miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (to be completed within 30 days of employment if not already registered).
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in consumer sales, marketing, and/or customer service, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • Demonstrated success in a retail banking environment with a desire to advance skills in personal finance areas such as investments, insurance, mortgage, and small business products.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and bank software/systems (e.g., PC Teller, Customer Information System).
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines while following up consistently.
  • Ability to push a cash cart (100 lbs.) and/or lift 20–25 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
