About the Role
The Retail Banker I is a customer liaison integral to delivering TD’s brand promise by utilizing financial expertise and consultative advice to assist customers with their banking solutions/needs. This role contributes to business growth by identifying TD solutions that help customers achieve their financial goals and optimize their relationship with TD.
Responsibilities
- Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions to educate customers on banking solutions and refer them to appropriate team members or internal partners.
- Establish and nurture customer relationships by displaying product knowledge, actively listening to needs, and offering solutions or referrals.
- Make product recommendations based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits that support them through life events.
- Utilize customer relationship management tools to proactively identify solutions and lead outbound sales activities.
- Independently resolve customer issues, escalating when necessary.
- Engage in customer outreach, servicing, and advice activities to deliver a personalized experience.
- Facilitate loan product conversations and application intake.
- Maintain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).
- Deliver a legendary customer experience by building relationships and providing service and advice.
- Support the Bank's Customer Service Strategy by offering end-to-end advice, educational content, and proactive insights.
- Act as a customer advocate, improving financial confidence and providing resolution and tips.
- Orchestrate customer flow, welcome customers, and guide them appropriately.
- Educate customers on self-service options and digital banking solutions.
- Perform teller transactions, including check cashing, deposits, transfers, and withdrawals, while adhering to operational policies.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines, Bank Secrecy Act, and Patriot Act to minimize risk.
- Support daily store operations and align with TD's risk framework.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, promoting service, quality, and teamwork.
- Participate in personal performance management and development activities.
- Act as a brand ambassador, both internally and externally.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years' experience in customer service or sales, or equivalent (volunteering, education, military experience).
- Teller experience preferred.
- Must complete teller training upon hire.
- Demonstrated ability to engage customers and educate them on products.
- Strong organization skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to schedule, prioritize, and work independently.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Notary License preferred.
- Must maintain NMLS registration.
- Satisfactory results on background and credit checks.
Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of banking products, services, and processes.
- Ability to work with low to moderate complexity/risk.
- Understanding of customer preferences and self-service options.
