Pay

$17.75 per hour or higher, depending on experience.

About the Role

To create a memorable experience that delivers consistent and value-added services dedicated to developing lasting customer relationships and discovering opportunities for new business. Provides teller services including processing transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and cashing checks. Processes new accounts and cross-sells other need-based products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Performs Southside Bank’s customer service standards with each customer interaction.
    • Provides enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service to customers and employees.
    • Completes customer thank-you calls and follow-up on problem resolution as directed by management.
    • Meets or exceeds operational and sales goals, including balancing, attendance, and others as determined by retail management.
    • Knows the products and services offered by the Bank and explains key benefits to customers.
    • Recognizes each customer transaction as a cross-sell opportunity.
    • Identifies and responds to the needs of new and potential customers by listening and clarifying their needs.
    • Directs customers to other Southside departments as needed.
    • Maintains the security and confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information.
    • Accurately communicates account information to customers.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Understands and abides by the policies and procedures established at Southside Bank.
    • Follows established policies and procedures to avoid fraudulent activity (e.g., verifying identification, reviewing account history).
    • Follows compliance procedures and verifies accuracy of reporting applicable transactions such as CTRs, SARs, monetary logs, and Reg CC holds.
    • Maintains cash drawer limits and meets balancing standards daily, in accordance with Teller Over/Short Policies.
    • Reports all cash outages to management.
    • Accepts and verifies customer deposits.
    • Processes check cashing and less-cash transactions within authorized limits; obtains supervisor approval for transactions exceeding limits.
    • Performs special services such as selling official checks, processing cash advances and loan payments, completing stop payments, and redeeming savings bonds.
    • Provides notary services and assists customers with account reconciliation and problem resolution.
    • Communicates disclosure requirements and regulations to customers in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Continues professional development through training, seminars, and membership in professional associations.
    • Complies with audit policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering laws.
    • Processes collection items such as dealer drafts and foreign items.
  • Team Relations
    • Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for customers and employees consistent with Southside Bank’s mission and values.
    • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
    • Provides leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skills.
    • Contributes to a positive team environment with peers in and out of the branch.
    • Assists with opening and closing duties.
  • Additional Functions
    • Participates in special projects as assigned.
    • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; reports unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum six months of cash handling or customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficient in typing, 10-key calculator, and data entry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Completion of the following Southside Bank instructor-led classes within the first 6 months of employment:
    • New Employee Orientation
    • Teller Training, Teller Advanced, and Professional Teller
    • New Accounts Product Knowledge
    • Back to Basics Customer Service

Physical Activity/Dexterity

  • Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the time.
  • Frequently moves about inside the branch to assist customers, access machinery, and process cash.
  • Must be able to transport 25 pounds of coin a distance of 5-25 feet from a workstation to the vault, up to five times a day.
  • Must be able to detect, recognize, and identify customers as they begin assisting them.

Working Conditions/Environment

  • Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g., business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
